Hi! I’m Jes, a writer and web producer based in Toronto, and I just like to make sh*t. Let’s work together, shall we?

About moi.

Jesilou (Jes) Tongio is a geek who loves to write, design, and produce. It’s easy to make her smile with a dank Star Wars prequel meme. Don’t hate.

Jes currently works as a senior writer and digital producer with the CBC’s Unscripted / Factual Entertainment unit. She creates and manages content for shows such as Still Standing, The Great Canadian Baking ShowHello Goodbye, and more.

Her work with the Canada’s Smartest Person digital team won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Cross-Platform Project (Non-Fiction) in 2017.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ryerson University. Her work as a campus sports reporter earned a 2009 Sports Media Canada Award for showing great promise in sports journalism. At age 20, she was the youngest winner and only woman among that year’s awardees.

From 2010 to 2014, Jes fulfilled her childhood dream of being as a sports journalist when she worked as a senior writer in the CBCSports.ca newsroom. She also enjoys writing about nature, lifestyle, and pop culture.

In addition to journalism, Jes also designs and codes websites. She specializes in building and styling WordPress themes and sites. Her web projects range from portfolios, blogs, and online shops.

Outside of work, Jes runs the style blog Brash & Brilliant. She is also a cat lover, a classic rock and jazz enthusiast, and a former insomniac who loves to tweet, tumble and create pointless graphics to kill time.

Photoshop / Illustrator

ok, but what’s up with your name?

Jesilou is a combination of two names: my grandfather Jesus, and my grandmother Lourdes. My mom’s name is also Marilou, so I guess that’s what happened there.

Just call me Jes, though. JT is fine, too.

What I can do for you.

I’ve got your digital creative needs covered. Packed with enthusiasm and determination to give you the best-looking product, you’ll be excited to work with me and get your project done.

Web Design / Development

I create beautiful and functional custom websites to help you stand out online. We’ll work together closely to make sure you get a website you love — perfectly suited to your taste and needs.

Graphic Design

You’re awesome and your visuals should be, too. I’ll command millions of pixels to give you that trendy or classic look you so desire. I design logos, posters, business cards, album art, presentations, and more.

Writing / Copy Editing

Say what you mean and mean what you say. Or let me do it for you. As a professional writer, I’d be honoured to write your cover letter, bio, speech — whatever! For web projects, my copy editing fee is built into my rate.

Look, smiling is awkward, so I won’t force you to. Let’s just have some fun as you do your thing and I do mine. I specialize in portraits, headshots, blog photos, and shots of marble surfaces since that’s what’s in right now.

Affordable Rates

I offer affordable hourly rates ($50/hour), flat rates, and flexible payment plans, totally customizable by you! I also provide regular updates so you know how much your project costs every step of the way.

Love and Support

No, really. I live for deep heart-to-hearts. Whether or not you decide to work with me, I’m happy to share any words of encouragement or advice. So don’t be afraid to send me a message!

Jes was an absolute pleasure to work with! I hired her to help create my very first website and I’m very pleased with how it all turned out. She worked very hard to take my ideas and turn them into a reality.

Jesilou is one of those anomalous people that straddles the line between elegance and nerdery. She’s amazing, and I always look forward to working with her. Always.

Come now, don’t be shy.

Want to work with me? Got a question? Just want to say hi? Let’s chat! I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
