Hi! I’m Jes, a digital producer based in Toronto, and I just like to make cool sh*t. Let’s work together, shall we?

About moi.

Jesilou (Jes) Tongio is a geek who loves to do everything — design, write, edit, shoot, and produce.
It’s easy to make her laugh with a dank Star Wars prequel meme. Don’t hate.

Jes is an award-winning digital producer who believes in mutually empowering collaborations with clients, teammates, and internet strangers-turned-best-friends.

She is passionate about helping people realize their digital vision. She comes alive when working with creators who value inclusivity and positive change in the areas of wellness, education, arts and entertainment.

Jes recently spent five years as a senior writer / digital producer at the CBC. With the Unscripted / Factual Entertainment unit, she created and managed content for primetime shows such as Still Standing, The Great Canadian Baking Show, Battle of the Blades, and more. Her work on Canada’s Smartest Person won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Cross-Platform Project (Non-Fiction) in 2017.

In 2015, Jes initiated a design project that transformed CBC Short Docs thumbnails into promotional keyart with feature film poster treatment. This strategy set a standard for ensuring all series and films featured on CBC Gem were accompanied by high quality, visually arresting graphics.

From 2010 to 2014, Jes fulfilled her childhood dream of being as a sports journalist when she worked as a senior writer with CBC Sports. She had the opportunity to work in the newsroom during Hockey Night in Canada live broadcasts, as well as the 2012 and 2014 Olympic Games.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ryerson University. Her work as a campus sports reporter earned a 2009 Sports Media Canada Award for showing great promise in sports journalism. At age 20, she was the youngest winner and only woman among that year’s awardees.

Outside of work, Jes runs the style blog Brash & Brilliant. She is also a cat lover, an aspiring jazz singer, and a minimalist who loves re-re-re-organizing.

ok, but what’s up with your name?

Jesilou is a combination of two names: my grandfather Jesus, and my grandmother Lourdes. My mom’s name is also Marilou, so I guess that’s what happened there.

Just call me Jes, though. JT is fine, too.

What I can do for you.

I’ve got your digital creative needs covered. Packed with enthusiasm and commitment to give you the best-looking product, we’ll have a blast working together and getting your project done.

Web Design / Development

I create beautiful and accessible websites to help you stand out. We’ll work together closely to make all your digital dreams come true. I’m committed to realizing your unique vision and getting invited to your family dinners.

Graphic Design

You’re awesome and your branding should be, too. I’ll whisper into the ears of millions of pixels to give you that trendy or classic look you so desire. I design logos, posters, business cards, presentations, and more.

Writing / Copy Editing

Say what you mean and mean what you say. Or let me do it for you. As a professional writer, I’d be honoured to write or edit your cover letter, bio, speech, midnight text to your ex — whatever! 🙂

Look, smiling is awkward, so I won’t force you to. Let’s just have some fun as you do your thing and I do mine. I specialize in portraits, in-situ product images, and shots of marble surfaces since that’s what’s in right now.

Affordable Rates

I offer affordable hourly rates ($50/hour), flat rates, and flexible payment plans, totally customizable by you! I also provide regular updates so you know how much your project costs every step of the way.

Love and Support

No, really. I live for deep heart-to-hearts. Whether or not you decide to work with me, I’m happy to share any words of encouragement or advice. So don’t be afraid to send me a message!

Jes was an absolute pleasure to work with! I hired her to help create my very first website and I’m very pleased with how it all turned out. She worked very hard to take my ideas and turn them into a reality.

Jesilou is one of those anomalous people that straddles the line between elegance and nerdery. She’s amazing, and I always look forward to working with her. Always.
